cry baby baby

every so often, when things get calm and all the toys have been played with and about an hour or so since the last ounce or two of milk was served, we'll hear a little sound out of our baby girl. it's her way of letting the world know, enough is enough. on our big day off, we found the baby girl at this point and at the moment you think, OH NO! but then you get past it when her sweet little head hits the crib and then something really, really special happens...SILENCE. love this little one and i love that she loves her sleep.

Baby Girl's 1st Day Away

So, today, Baby Girl is off to meet some new friends and her new teachers. She got there later in the morning which was my doing since I took my time getting her ready and then took forever getting her dressed and of course, we have to have pictures for the blog and it just can't be any picture but the picture that says, "I'm totally happy even though I don't know where I'm going." After all of that, I signed her in and handed her over and got into the car as fast as possible before the idea of grabbing her and putting her back into the car became reality. On my way home, I made a couple of calls and then convinced myself that she needed to come home after lunch. 1 o'clock was the original idea but then I held off until 2...The owner even pointed out what a short day Baby Girl had with them. "Oh well," I thought...She's mine and I only have a few more days of maternity leave left and I want her to know that I truly cherish my time with her. The funny thing is, I walked in on the Chinese lesson going on. Sorry Baby Girl. I think they'll do it again for you so you can learn how to sing "It's a Small World" in Mandarin.

Journaling continues to serve an important role in society

For those of you who know me, I am an avid journaler. My journals date back to my preteens but even before then, I had my own big pile of notebook paper that I folded in half and wrote on the front, "My Diary" (unfortunately I no longer have it in my posession), even back then, I was all about self reflection. So, today I came across this article that's a bit dated but reminds me that journaling is importantant to the world and why it contines to help keep who I am in check.

The whole article can be found here. Below is a snippet:

For many people, keeping a journal is a therapeutic exercise. It allows them to express feelings or impressions they may not be able to share with anyone. Often, solely through the act of writing, writers may come to realize a larger truth that their hectic day may have obscured. Writing in a journal is a technique for self-reflection no less than a way to document events.

I recently started keeping a journal as part of my New Year's resolution. I've been surprised by how much more I've been able to put events into perspective. Being able to go through my day and analyze each event has helped to give me a perspective that is driven less by spur-of-the-moment thoughts and more by how things fit into a larger picture of my life.

Perhaps those ancient writers also discovered the personal value of writing down experiences and impressions of everyday events. By doing that, they may have succeeded in both helping themselves and helping modern man understand their lives.

And perhaps an entry in the journal of some modern man will help future generations to understand our culture and our lives. It would come as no surprise to people who take value from their journals and can understand why others would as well.

Sigh...

Today was tough. Baby girl got some shots. I kept wishing she'd be one of those babies who wouldn't feel a thing. No such luck. We're in recovery now. I've just been holding her lots and lots. Poor thing.

Happy Bday to JMo! (one day late)

JMo and I at this past year's holiday party.
Her birthday way yesterday so CJ and I decorated her office while she was away.

We tried to do a tropical theme since JMo likes the sun and being outdoors.
Of course, I thought I'd have a lot more time but there was way too much
for Baby Girl to look at so nap time didn't happen.
