C Goes to Sea World with Aunt Tori

Splashing, Splashing!

With Aunt Tori at Sea World

Starting our day with a visit with Shamu

With daddy and the cute flamingo friends

As expected, the weather was extremely hot but we went for it. The park was packed and we were hoping to get together with my brother's family but right after we watched the Shamu Show (fabulous!), we headed to the Shark Encounter to make our reservation at Underwater Grill and the sky broke open. Rain, rain and more rain came down and thankfully, we were under cover and our table was available about 10 minutes later. Lunch was wonderful even with a screaming toddler who, thank the Lord, fell asleep about an hour into it. (Mommy Break!) There were a lot of people doing the deep dive experience that day so every time I looked over to enjoy the sharks and other fish swimming around, I noticed that there was a cage of two people staring at us. Kept thinking...Can they see me? Can they talk to each other?

After lunch, we walked around and saw some seals as well as the horses. Happy Harbor was hopping so we changed the baby girl and let her run loose in the splash park. I have posted the picture at the top since it's one of my favorites ever!

So glad we got to spend the day with Aunt Tori. Baby girl was so good all day long and had a great time. We'll be back, Shamu!

GO FIGURE...From On the Job

Thanks Anita B. for sharing! This is only a part of the post so click on Anita B. if you want to read the whole one.

What is something these leaders have in common that you feel was critical in them becoming so successful?

I have a saying that you haven’t lost the game until you quit. These people, most of them anyhow, have an immense reserve of pluck, will and desire.

Call it grit. Call it stick-to-it-ness. Call it tenacity. They just don’t know how to give up. I call it the GO FIGURE factor.*

Observant. They are acutely observant about how people commit, but not just commit to buy something…they know how to get people to commit to groups, initiatives, companies and efforts.*

Fun. These people are Fun, usually, and that’s important because we spend so much of our lives at work, that most people want to spend time working with and working for somebody who is fun.*

Inventive. They are immensely Inventive and see opportunities that the rest of us don’t notice.*

Gracious. It’s not often thought of as an important trait but I think it may be the most important attribute. Having manners and being gracious tends to compel people to want to give you their labor. You can get work from people with a paycheck but for a person to offer their labor, well, that’s something else. And people are more likely to offer their labor to somebody who is courteous.*

Unsatisifed. Successful people are usually unsatisfied with what they’ve achieved and always want more.*

Resourceful. Successful people are creative about how to achieve market share and their intelligence will usually open up new pathways.*

Execute. Finally, they have strategies for individuals and teams and they know how to make those strategies work. Put it all together, it’s the G.O. F.I.G.U.R.E. factor.

1/2 way through this year...

HAPPY JUNE!

This year is flying by. I hope everyone is having a great 2009 so far. I find myself incredibly grateful for my family, for friends that have been in my life for years and years and for the new friendships I've found over the last few years. I thank my Mr. Wonderful for his love. Mine still grows deeper and deeper every day for him. For my baby girl who's now entering toddlerhood, I'm so proud and amazed of how fast my little 6 lb. baby has become a walking, very curious and helpful little girl. Milestone after milestone, I am so excited about watching her walk through each one.

To my friend, Melissa -- CONGRATULATIONS! She and her husband, Trevor, just welcomed their first little one home. Little Joey! So excited for them and for all they are about to experience. I actually have photos from Heather's Blackberry but they're a bit too dark to post. Hoping to get some new ones soon.

Heading out of town in a day to my old "traveling stomping grounds". Love to get away but now my heart is much heavier since I not only have to leave Mr. Wonderful, but my precious baby girl. Thankfully (there's that word again), Tori is cominng to town to keep them both company. THANK YOU TORI!

So, here's to June! All that will be and all that has been.
